Thinking together in community using technology is when students dialogue and interact with each other in their community of practice using their previous (what they know) and new knowledge (researched topics as they use technology) to tease out ideas, form new ideas and create their own perspective. The interaction that happens in collaborative groups helps students share ideas, thoughts, comparisons, facts which is conducive to thinking when they turn it into information that is helpful to them in learning. So in other words, the students will respond to the information found through technology, revising what they find on the web and reflect on it by interacting with each other and discuss what was found. The web quest on the following site: http://www.personal.psu.edu/jxz8/Student_Webquests/Bradley_Knudsen/WEBQUEST.HTML is called ¡Viva España! As the students assume different roles and work together on specific topics, they have to dialogue with each other in order to reach the objectives of the activity.

Artifact that attracted my attention:Evaluation

Your group will be evaluated three ways on the WebQuest:

1. Each person will individually write a daily Travel Journal. The journal will contain a daily record of the trip (in past tense Spanish), how much was spent in one day, and a reflection on how the trip is going so far.

2. Your whole group will create an itinerary. The itinerary will include an outline of the trip, including activities, time, hotels, and travel allowances. There should also be a daily total of money spent. All group members will contribute equally to the itinerary.

3. The final product will be a group presentation. The presentation can either be created in a travel handbook or a Power Point presentation. The presentation, conducted in Spanish, will be a summary of your travel journey.

The affordances for this webquest are:

o The students work as a team to achieve an outcome.

o The students will learn about the country of Spain by searching the internet.

o The student get to plan their own trip and the only thing they have to do is go to Madrid or Barcelona and they have a certain amount of money to spend.

The constraint is: The instructions are not in the target language and the journal writing is individual. The goal would be to have students sharing their perspectives so they can build perspectives and share perspectives.
